‘Or I will squeeze,’ the Sea Serpent said quietly. ‘Believe me, you don’t want to be squeezed.’

Five-Fathom Frieda shook her head. She had deep blue ringlets and they bobbed hard when she shook her head. She was so very sure that she didn’t want to be squeezed.

‘The Sea Serpent will take you into the Queasy Quays,’ Bennett said. ‘And the king and queen and I and the Princess Florizella and Prince Courier will meet you there.’

He very much hoped that Florizella and Courier would meet them there, but there was no point in telling the pirates that he’d lost two of the heroic three royals. To the Sea Serpent he said quietly in its big green ear, ‘Actually, could you drop me off behind the cliff to look for Courier and Florizella?’
